Tim Dale Appointed KLUFC WSL Head Coach

Kingborough Lions United FC is pleased to announce the appointment of Tim Dale as Head Coach of the Women’s Super League Program for the 2027 season.

Tim’s appointment follows a comprehensive review of the WSL program and a competitive recruitment process that attracted more than ten applications from Tasmania, interstate and overseas.

Tim needs little introduction at the Lions. A former senior captain of the Club and Tasmanian state representative, he has coached at almost every level at KLUFC, from our youngest juniors through to the senior men’s side, where he was named Coach of the Year during his time as Head Coach in 2005 and 2006. He also led the Club’s Women’s Premier League team in 2001, and returns to the top job in our women’s program more than 25 years on.

Since 2024 Tim has served as the Club’s Junior Technical Director, and in 2026 he has been Youth Girls Lead Coach and an assistant with the WSL squad. He holds a Football Australia B Licence, has coached in Football Tasmania’s Talented Player Support program in the youth girls space, and works as a Coach Education Tutor for Football Tasmania.

Away from the Club, Tim spent more than 20 years as a Physical Education teacher at Fahan School. His commitment to girls’ football goes back even further: as a development officer in the 1990s he started an all-girls roster with six school teams, which has since grown to more than 50.

Tim brings strong leadership, football knowledge and a clear commitment to player development and women’s football. His appointment will help guide the next phase of the Club’s WSL program and strengthen alignment across KLUFC’s player development pathways.

The Club also acknowledges outgoing WSL Head Coach Simon Edwards for his contribution to the program and women’s football at KLUFC.

Training for Season 2027 will be commencing in November – for new players, if you would like to receive details please register an expression of interest below.
