Statewide Cup Finals 2024 – Message from the President

Well what an unbelievable and memorable day it was for the Club on Monday 10 June 2024.  The day Kingborough Lions United FC hosted the Tasmanian Statewide Cup Finals for the first time in the Club’s history.

Message to our Members from Club President Brian Downes:

On behalf of the Board, I want to sincerely thank all the Members, and their families, that turned up on the day to cheer on both our Women’s and Men’s teams in their respective finals, and who contributed to what was an amazing atmosphere and a most enjoyable day of football.

To host and cater for such an event, over 1300 people in attendance, is a considerable ask for any Club, let alone a Club that is still in ‘construction mode’, with still much more work to be done.  Therefore, on behalf of all of the Club’s membership, I wish to send the biggest thanks possible to all of the Volunteers who not only helped on the day, but also the weeks leading up to the event.  We are so grateful to each and every one of you for your time, dedication, and professionalism in helping with this amazing day.

To the players of our Women’s and Men’s teams, we are so proud of the way both teams played, and although we just fell short in getting the results we were all hoping for, the matches were of the highest quality, and have now set the scene for more finals football in the future.  Again, thank you to both teams, you are much loved and appreciated.

Again thank you so much to every Member, Volunteer and Player who was involved on the day, we are so proud of you all.
