2025 Young Lions Discovery Term 4 (U5-U8)

The 8 week Discovery Phase Development program commences Sunday 9th February at Clennetts Lightwood Park  .

It runs Sundays through School Term. 

  • Sunday 2:00 pm – 2:45pm

You do not have to play for Kingborough Lions United FC to be involved !!  

The Young Lions Discovery Program is a 8 week fun football training program (training once a week in Kingston) for children who would like to learn football by playing football.  The Young Lions Discovery Program  is run each term for the year and is open to all girls and boys born in 2017, 2018, 2019 or 2020.  The Discovery program also extends the skill training component for younger players who are ready to progress their skills.

The program allows the children to play lots of varied fun football related games and aims to deliver the following for players:

  • Learn football by playing football
  • Discovering one’s possibilities through trial and error
  • Develop ability in the four core skills of First Touch, Striking the Ball, One v One and Running with the Ball
  • Organised fun football exercises
  • Replicate street/park football environment
  • Building a love for the game

Players do not need to play for Kingborough Lions United F.C. to participate in the program.  The 8 week cycles of the Discovery Program are aligned with the 8 week cycles of the Young Lions Skills Acquisition Program.

The technical and operational aspects of the program are managed by KLUFC, all coaching staff have or are working towards FFA coach accreditation and the program is supported by Football Federation Tasmania (FFT), providing technical support and guidance when required.

Players require the below equipment for every session:

  • Football boots
  • Shin pads covered with football socks
  • A full water bottle
  • Hat and sunscreen

Players are expected to purchase the Junior training kit and wear it to each session.

Parent Agreement: I give KLUFC permission to publish photos of our training sessions, games or clinics on the KLUFC website, Facebook page and/or the Kingborough Chronicle.

The Training Kit includes quality Kappa brand training shirt, shorts & socks. It cost $75 and can be purchased as individual items. It can be purchased online – add it while doing your registration.
